The most exciting moment of the day happened off- air but thrilled those in attendance. The show had a special visit from internationally known peace activist, peace mom and founder of Gold Star families, Cindy Sheehan. Cindy was still in town after receiving the Phoenix award the night before from the Dallas Peace Center. She had earlier that day visited what’s called Camp Casey Dallas- which is an encampment and regular Friday vigil in front of the office of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Cindy and Al Franken seemed to really enjoy their brief visit and they exchanged and inscribed books to each other and hugged. Cindy visited with other attendees and was then whisked off toward the airport – she will attend an international peace conference and peace protest next week in England and Scotland.

Al Franken will soon leave the U.S. on 4th U.S.O. tour of Iraq and Afghanistan where he entertains the troops.
