Mary Baker (me) m. Darrel Vivian

I think there are probably a lot of Bakers still in the area.

I also am related in a shirttail way to William Marsh, Baptist preacher, who started the Baptist Church in Stanbridge and Sutton area, before going to Ontario.  (His daughter Amy was the first wife of Jesse Starr, Eliza Starr Baker's father.  Eliza's mother was Lucinda Groat, whose family I believe started out in Ontario)

Books we own :
  • With Heart and Hands and Voices", by Phyllis Hamilton.  It includes histories of protestant churches of Brome, Missisquoi, Shefford and surrounding area.  There's a page or two for each church, and there are quite a few names mentioned.  She tried very hard to get something on every old church, including some that had been abandoned and were used for storage.

  • Missisquoi Historical Society Twilight Graveyard Tour,  August 11, 2001.  It includes the following cemeteries:

Russell Cemetery, (Hancock Hill, St. Armand, QC)

Krans Cemetery, (Protestant, St. Armand, QC) (This cemetery includes Frances, Miles Krans, and Reliance Allen--    would this be your family?)
Luke family cemetery (St. Armand, QC)
Hasting Cemetery--only one headstone in a field surrounded by a fence--Major Hollis Hastings.
Stanton Cemetery (Stanbridge East, QC)
Each section lists the names on the gravestones, and a little history about the cemetery and the folks buried in it.
These cemeteries are relatively small.
