Individual Note:
     Modena Munselle Hill Pounds, 72, passed away Monday, April 14, 1997,
      in San Angelo.

      Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Robert Massie
      Riverside Chapel with the Rev. Roy South of Calvary Baptist Church
      officiating. Burial will follow in Grape Creek Cemetery.

      Mrs. Pounds was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Thrifty, Texas. She married
      Oscar Lee Hill in 1941, and they had eight children. She later married
      Berry Pounds in 1963. She was preceded in death by her husband and
      five children, Ronnie Carol Hill, Carolyn Sue Hill, Shirley Jean Hill,
      Jerry Dean Hill and Larry Lynn Hill.

      She is survived by her two sons, Jackie Lee Hill and Kenneth Wayne
      Hill, and her daughter, Sharon Kay Rushing; her mother, Ida Rutledge
      Stratton; two sisters, Irene Taylor and Joyce Reese; two brothers,
      John Munselle and Lee Munselle; as well as several grandchildren and
      great-grandchildren.

      Pallbearers will be Bobby Branham, Carel Gotcher, Verle Theriot, Phil
      Ballard, John Putman and Perry Putman.

      The family would like to give a special thank you to Sharon Lewis and
      the staff at Love Home Health and to Elsa Martinez and Rosa Perez for
      their loving care.

«/b»W. L. Stonecipher Dies At Home....Funeral services for W. L. Stonecipher who died at his home on RFD 7 at 11 a.m. Thursday morning will be held at Hopewell Church Sunday at 2 p.m. The Rev. C. C. Hall of Carbondale will conduct the service and interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Etta, one son, Ernest, a daughter, Mrs. Erie Frost and seven grandchildren. One grandson, Paul Stonecipher is in the Army; and another Charles W., is in the Navy Air Corps.
Mr. Stonecipher was a farmer but had not been active for some time because of illness.

«/b»James W. Stonecipher was born near Range in Jefferson county, Illinois, on the 1«sup»st«/sup» day of August, 1860; and passed away in great peace on the 2«sup»nd«/sup» day of June 1914, at his home about a mile east of Zion Church, aged 53 years 10 months and one day.
He was married to Julia E. Rogers October 28, 1886; this union was blessed with 5 children; two died in infancy; Bert J., Anna May, and John Roger, with their mother survive to morn their loss.
Mr. Stonecipher was converted in a meeting at Zion Church during the pastorate of J. C. Kinison, and on the 12«sup»th«/sup» day of September, 1897, he united with the United Episcopal Church at Zion and remained a faithful active member of the same till his death. He loved and supported the Church and was an earnest Christian man. He loved his home and his family, was a kind husband, a loving father, a splendid neighbor and respected by the whole community. His sickness was of short duration; but at the Master's call he was ready. He was a good man and will be missed by his family, the church, and the community.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
The funeral was conducted by the Revs. W. J. Hopper and J. C. Kinison at Zion Church, at 2 p.m., June 3«sup»rd«/sup», and the body was laid to rest in Hopewell Cemetery. A great concourse of people was present at the funeral.

«/b»George Stonecipher, one of the oldest residents of the county, died at his home near Zion church in Field township, on Wednesday, after a long illness. He was over 80 years of age, and one of the pioneers of Jefferson county. Some months ago he was stricken with paralysis and never fully recovered from its effects. The funeral took place yesterday, with interment at Hopewell Cemetery.

     Heinrich Steinseifer (4 Feb 1755 - 12 Jul 1841) married 21 Oct 1783 at the First Reformed Church of York, PA, Maria Elizabetha Hoffheinz (21 Apr 1762 - 1 Jan 1831?), daughter of Johann Adam Hoffheinz. Henry immigrated, an orphan, in New York, October, 1767. But by 1780, he had found his Steinseifer/Hoffman relatives in the "Holz-Schwamm" (swampy woodlands) of Paradise Township, York County, Pennsylvania, east of Abbottstown. He appears in the muster rolls of York County militia as early as 7 Oct 1780. and is listed as Private, First Class, 3rd Company, 5th Battalion, on 27 Dec 1782. "Heinrich Steiniffert" purchased 455 acres of land in Codorus Township 15 Mar 1788, selling the same 11 Aug 1794. They moved to Jefferson County, Kentucky by 1800, and to Clark Co, Indiana Territory, in 1805. He is buried in Jordan Cemetery south of Corydon, Harrison County, Indiana.
