Judging from the birthplaces oftheir children, they removed toSt. Lawrence County sometime between 1836and 1840 -- areasonable time for a large family to move since Canada wasin astate of Civil War beginning in 1837. It appears that theymoved withSally's brother, Abel Gage, who lived nearby for manyyears.Elias was oneof the original five trustees of the FirstWesleyan Society Church of EastStockholm, which wasincorporated 11 October 1852.
