Sarah Fatima RUSH was born on a farm in Lawrence County, bordering on theGreene County line, November 5, 1839; died at the old homejust across theline in Greene CountyAugust 10, 1910.
She lived her entire life of more than seventy years in the samelocality.
She was the oldest child of John C. and Mahala (HOLMES) RUSH, who raiseda family of eleven childrenthree boys and eight girls.
She united with the Methodist church in her girlhood and was a greatworker in church and Sunday school until she married.
She was married to Stephen RIDDLE, November 3, 1866. To this union wereborn two boys, Norman and Milford RIDDLE.
On account of domestic trouble she took her two little baby boys andreturned to the old home of her father and mother, where she lived untilcalled home to glory.
Mr. RIDDLE procured a divorce and married another woman, but Tima lived atrue Christian life, with her boys, who grew up to be good honorable, useful citizens and are left to mourn the loss of as good a mother as anyboy ever had.
Her father and mother have been dead for many years. One brother NormanA. RUSH, was killed in the Battle of Shiloh, while defending his countrysflag on that beautiful Sunday morning, April 6, 1862, at the same hourTima was teaching a class in Sunday school at the old log church in thevalley near her home. Two sisters and a brother live in Oklahoma, twosisters live in Kansas, one sister in Colorado, one sister in Missouri, one brother lives in Bloomfield and one sister lives at the old home inJackson Township.
She nurtured her father and mother in their last sickness, and has beenan angel of mercy in her neighborhood for many years.
Her lot in life was very hardfew, very few, of the joys and good thingsof life ever fell to her share.
Her last sickness was only a few days, but very painful, being an acuteattack of bowel trouble.
The remains were laid away in the family cemetery near her home.
Why should we dread death? To all such as Tima it is the gateway toheaven, the portal to endless joy and bliss. It is god by her and goodmorning over there.

In a letter mailed in March 1984 to Rose Parks, Aunt Grace writes:
I did have quite a bit on my mind this morning too, am supposed to play at a 60th wedding anniversary this afternoon.
Friends of mine, friends I go to church with. I do go to church and to the Sr. citizens program some. I play in their band,
play the harmonica and the piano, we have a lot of fun. We go and play at both nursing homes here. I do volunteer work at
Senior Citizens make crafts, piece and make quilts. I'm not the type to sit and twiddle my thumbs, and just need to be busy.
Of course I'm not without the old age aches and pains but am learning to cope with them. If you come anywhere near
Dublin, when you go to Lamesa, come by and see me.
Another letter dated 17 June, 1984
